Secretary’s Report: Kim reported that we are all set for the NYSA Annual Meeting. The ballot will be ready for the vote on board positions.

Kim reported that the Special Olympic Northboro Unified team played in the regional tournament on September 29, 2002. The team will be playing in the Special Olympics state tournament on November 3, 2002.

League Updates

Assabet: Janine reported that the changes made for the Assabet teams will be effective the following weekend. Ten Assabet teams were moved to higher or lower divisions to play more competitive games. All other Assabet teams are all set.

Bob discussed a letter sent to the board regarding a U12 player with behavior problems. This particular player is having difficulty playing due to anger problems. The coach has talked with the parents who have agreed to attend all practices and games to help the coach. The board has asked the coach to keep the board informed on the progress of the player.

Nashoba: Darrell reported that all U14 Nashoba teams are doing well. He is in the process of collecting Assabet U12 and U10 scores. Darrell reported that Tom Krouse’s U14 team will most likely move up to Nashoba Cup division for spring.

Treasurer’s Report: Brain reviewed the treasurer’s report for September. Brian reported that the revenues from the Field of Dreams are consistently good. Kim motioned to accept September 2002 treasurer’s report. Janine seconded. All in favor.

Registrar’s Report: John Courtney reviewed the new registration forms for spring 2003. John discussed the changes made to the form. Suggestions were made and discussed regarding the new form. Some changes were made to the new form.

John reported that walk-in registration will be held for two nights in October. John stated that he needed volunteers to help with registration. Bob mentioned that he will talk to Joan and Carol about bringing the NYSA items to the annual meeting and to walk-in registration.

John reported that the feedback on U7 is good. No complaints. NYSA will continue to have the coed U7 division in the spring.

Coach Coordinator’s Report: Bob reported for Angela that the list for kid safe forms is almost complete. Angela is waiting for a few more.

Travel Team Coordinator’s Report: John Courtney reported that he had asked Don about adding a new player to his team for the remaining fall games. Don suggested that he wait until the spring season.

Referee Coordinator’s Report: Bob Kody reported for Len Spencer that everything has been coordinated for both leagues. The biggest issues that remain are the changes to the Assabet schedules due to the movement of the ten teams to different divisions. This created referee and field problems that need to be resolved quickly.

Field Maintenance Coordinator’s Report: Mike reported that the new sandbags are awesome. Mike requested that coaches who move the goals need to move the sandbags and then move everything back before leaving the field. Mike reported that he is having some problems with the men’s group who play on Sundays at the middle school. They are moving goals without the sandbags and not moving the goals back. He will talk with Allie about that.

Mike discussed the condition of the goals at the various fields and the number of new goals that are on order. He will check with John Schunder about the new goals to see if they are in.

Mike mentioned that the two new nets in the big goals at the middle school are courtesy of FC Puma. FC Puma will also be putting trash barrels on the fields if approved by the school.

Mike stated that the small goal at Peaslee School is definitely missing. He may need to move a small goal there to replace it.

Mike suggested that next year we give net ties to all coaches who can fix any loose areas in the nets at their practices or games times.

Mike straightened out the U-Save invoice regarding the field paint. He now has the 25 cases that were paid for.

Mike reported that Rutland Nurseries will be blowing out the sprinkler systems in October. NYSA will continue to work with Rutland Nurseries next year with the same program minus some seeding around the gazebo and a few other small areas.

Fundraiser Report: Bob reported that the new NYSA coach’s shirts will be ordered with “25 years of excellence” on them. They will be given to all coaches.

Bob reported that a new refrigerator is needed. We are looking for anyone who wants to donate one to the FOD.

The new sign for FOD is on order.

The coaches/MLS fundraiser game is scheduled for November 2, 2002. A discussion was held as to whether we should hold the event. It was decided by the board to have the game and to ask each coach to sell 15 tickets to play, 20 tickets for a shirt. It was suggested that next year we try to have it earlier in the year and hand out the tickets at the August coaches meeting.

Darrell introduced a new NYSA ball with the patch logo on it. Bob suggested that each team receive one as a game ball in the spring.

Equipment Coordinator’s Report: Nothing to report.

Field Coordinator: Nothing to report.

New Business: New Stormwatch articles are still needed as Mark did not receive any. Bob ask for anyone to please send in articles to Mark.

John Courtney discussed trying to integrate NYSA teams with the high school teams. He had brought his team to a game to shag balls and watch and meet the varsity players. The kids had a great time. This is something for NYSA to consider doing for all young teams who are interested.

Bob discussed and reviewed the NYSA footwork/goalie clinics planned to be held at Teamworks. Bob will be asking John O’Reilly to be the coordinator.

NYSA spirit day was discussed and it will be held on October 22, 2002.

Bob reported the U8 development program with MLS is going great. The feedback has been positive.

Bob reported that the corner flags have been left out on Sundays. Bob asked that we email coaches to remind them to put the flags away.

Brian motioned to adjourn the meeting. Ian seconded. All in favor.

Meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
