Board of Directors Meeting
Northborough Town Hall
The meeting began at 7:20 p.m.
Board Members Present: Bob Kody, Mike Proctor, John Courtney, Carol Sexton, Brian Lanciault, Don Miller, Len Spencer, Joan Clowes and Janine Colleran.
Board Members Absent: Kim Miller, Darrell Lemmerman, Angela Rose, Mike Turpin, and Ian Wallace.
Minutes: Not reviewed.
Secretary’s Report: No report given.
League Updates
Assabet: Janine reported that she is finalizing the teams for the Assabet league. Janine reviewed the numbers for each team.
Nashoba: Janine requested for Darrell that he would like to split the responsibility for finalizing the Nashoba rosters. John Courtney and Janine Colleran offered to help. John and Janine can merge forms to make the process easier. Also the Northboro patch logo balls were discussed. NYSA can buy them for $8.00 through MLS as opposed to the previous amount of $12.00 through another vendor. Darrell will get a sample with the Northboro logos to compare before we make a decision.
Treasurer’s Report: Brain reviewed the treasurer’s report for January 2003. Brian reviewed the figures for the month. Discussion held. Carol motioned to accept January 2003 treasurer’s report. John Courtney seconded. All in favor.
Brian discussed the liability policy for NYSA.
Registrar’s Report: John Courtney reviewed the numbers for U6, U7 and U8. John reported that the rosters will be emailed out to the coaches on March 1, 2003 with one month to make any changes.
Coach Coordinator’s Report: No report given.
Travel Team Coordinator’s Report: Don discussed the travel teams, MTOC and Nashoba Cup. Don stated that the “A” teams were MTOC and the “B” teams were Nashoba Cup for U12 and U14 age groups.
Don requested that NYSA put together an approved list of evaluators for the travel team tryouts. Don also stated that we need to establish guidelines for the tryout process. Don suggested that the members of the NYSA board run the tryouts. A discussion was held however no decision was made.
Don stated that the coaches for “A” and “B” teams should have the MYSA E license. Don suggested that NYSA look into hiring coaches for the MTOC and Nashoba Cup teams if volunteers are not qualified. This will be discussed at the next meeting.
Referee Coordinator’s Report: Len reported that NYSA has 7-8 new referees. Len also reported that the Nashoba league has requested that he assign referees to the recreation team games.
Field Maintenance Coordinator’s Report: No report given.
Fundraiser Report: Joan reported that there will not be a NYSA road race this spring. Joan and Carol expect to assign times for the Field of Dreams in advance of the spring season. Joan is in the process of getting the MLS camp contract in. Joan reported that NYSA needs to put a deposit down for the camps.
Equipment Coordinator’s Report: Bob reported for Mike that the new coach’s shirts have been ordered.
Field Coordinator: Bob reviewed for Ian the expected use of the Rt. 135 fields and the new artificial field in Southborough.
New Business: Bob reviewed the 135 large field expansion plans. The target start date is spring 2003.
Bob stated that NYSA will have a Spirit Day this spring.
John motioned to adjourn the meeting. Brian seconded. All in favor.
