Congratulations to Ed Lowe and Meaghan O’Reilly both recipients of the NYSA scholarship awards presented on May 23 at ARHS
Become a Soccer Referee
Northborough Youth Soccer is affiliated with the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League. The NVYSL uses United States Soccer Federation licensed referees. Have you ever thought about becoming a referee? You do not have to be a soccer player yourself to become a referee. General knowledge of the game is helpful. Training is conducted by the Massachusetts State Referee Committee. Dads and moms are welcome to be trained as well as interested youths.
Check out all the details.
NYSA Safety Reminders:
With the spring season in full swing, it is time to once again remind all our coaches, parents, volunteers and administrators that safety is Everyone’s responsibility.
Player Escort: NYSA strongly recommends escorting players to the fields for practices or games and remaining with the
child until a coach arrives. Please do not drop off a child unless the coach or assistant coach is present.
Immediately following a practice or a game, parents should walk on to the field and collect their children.
A Coach or assistant coach must remain with players until they are all accounted for.
Driving & Parking: Please follow and drive the various school roadways as they are marked or designated. Cars should only park where parking is permitted. If a parking lot is full, please park on the street. Please don't block other cars.
Player Pick Up: Coaches and their assistant coaches should never leave the field until the player's ride arrives.
Goal Safety: Goal safety is critical. Please ensure each goal is secured with a sandbag. If one is not available, don't use the goal.
1. Are anchors in place and secured properly to the goal and ground surface?
2. If anchor bags are being used, are they in good condition?
3. Are anchor bags adequately filled with aggregate?
4. Are anchor bags placed over the base of the goal frames at the back corners?
5. Is all connecting hardware, such as nuts and bolts, in place and secure?
6. Has the structural integrity of the goal been compromised?
7. Are welds cracked?
8. Are corner joints secure?
9. Is the goal on a level surface?
10. Are the goal nets attached properly to the goal frame?
11. Do sharp edges exist in any part of the goal and net attachment system?
12. Do the nets have large holes or tears?
