Field and Referee Rescheduling Procedures
Field and Referee Rescheduling Procedures
Have a postponed game, TBA game, or unscheduled game to reschedule?
Contact the opposing coach and agree to a date and time to play the game.
Contact Len Spencer, NYSA Referee Coordinator to request field and referee
for mutually agreed date and time. Home telephone number is 508-393-2437. E-mail
address is Lspenfam@aol.com.
Immediately, Len will tell you if a field is available at that time.
Len will arrange for a referee for the requested date and time and will provide
(by either e-mail or telephone) you the coach, the referee’s name, telephone
number, and e-mail address should you again postpone (within the league’s
requirements).
Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League requirements regarding postponements:
Coaches can mutually agree to postponement up to two (2) hours before the
game time, but only after the change has been approved by the Division Director
(varies by age group and is listed in the front of the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer
League book). This applies to regularly scheduled games as well as rescheduled
games. The Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League Referee Director (Ned Rich) is to
be notified as well.
Some quotes from the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League book drive the above
home: “Game time may be changed by mutual agreement of coaches, but only
after the change has been approved by the Division Director.” “A team
will be permitted to reschedule a match due to conflict with either an academic
or religious event provided that the town/team involved completes the necessary
schedule and game time changes by the start of season play.” “In the
event of a late decision by school, religious, or other authorities to add or
change the time of an event, the Division Director will decide how to resolve
the schedule conflict.”
If the assigned referee is not notified outside this two-hour window, the
referee is to be paid anyway and NYSA suffers the financial loss.
In other words, please don’t take lightly the idea of postponing a
game.
Northboro Field Shutdown on Game Days for Rain or Snow
The decision to shutdown Northboro fields on game day will be made between
the President, the Field Coordinator, and the Referee Coordinator. This decision
will be made in time to allow for timely notification of the coaches and referees
involved prior to the time limits imposed by the respective leagues.
