Referee Coordinator Remarks
- Adult referee will be at U7 and U8 games to mentor new, young referees as
well as to speak with adults that are not conforming to the Zero Tolerance Law.
- Be supportive of our referees, without them we wouldn’t have as much
fun.
- This information will be on website under “Referee Corner” and
then under “Zero Tolerance.”
- No jewelry is allowed by either Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League and Assabet
Valley Youth Soccer League.
- Includes not allowing the taping over of recently pierced ears with studs
in them.
- NYSA adopted Assabet Youth Soccer League’s policy for its U6, U7, and
U8 league.
- Keep very young children in control, do not let them wander onto a soccer
field that is in use.
- Remain three feet minimum away from touchlines.
- This information will be on website under “Referee Corner” and
then under “Safety on the Soccer Field.”
- Despite our best efforts, the leagues may have still misunderstood what we
were asking them to list for fields for each team.
- I will be putting together a master field use schedule and it will be posted
on the website under “Referee Corner” and then under “Referee
Assignments.”
- Check the Field of Dreams Café wall for the daily field schedule.
If it is different than what you expected than have someone wait at the anticipated
field to direct the other team as well as your own team members to the correct
field. I am directing referee’s to work the game (specific age and opposing
teams), and not necessarily, the field that I have assigned to them.
- You should be dropping by the Field of Dreams Café anyway to get corner
flags for your field if there aren’t any there. Help the referees get the
corner flags up and correctly located.
- If you don’t have a mobile telephone, use the telephone in the Field
of Dreams Café to call the assigned referee. I will have an updated telephone
listing of the referees and their telephone numbers in there. For makeup games,
I send an e-mail with their names and telephone numbers.
- Nashoba has a written policy. The two coaches can agree on a single substitute
referee for the entire match and the match counts, or the coaches can agree to
not play the match and set a make-up date.
- For Assabet games and U7 and U8 games, I would use a parent as a referee.
- Please check the field hotline for the latest info on field openings and closings. The hotline is updated daily by 2PM on weekdays; by 7AM on Saturdays and by 10AM on Sundays.
- Work with the opposing coach to come up with a date and time. If a lot of games are being rescheduled, you might want to have a first and second choice.
- Send your request(s) -- including date and time -- to our Referee Coordinator.
- Fields and Ref's will be arranged, if possible (this should take about 24 hours). Please wait for conformation, as there may be other requests, or refs may not be available.
- You will be notified of the day, time and field. You must then check back with the opposing team.
- Your schedule on this website will be updated to reflect the rescheduled game.
- If there are any changes after you are notified, please contact our Referee Coordinator as soon as possible (so we can let the ref's know and also as other teams might want the slot).
